Why do we admire people?

Jon and Kate, why do we care? Here are two individuals who have eight children and instead of being parents sell their children to TLC so they can reside in a million dollar home. Now I ask you, wouldn't it have been better to perhaps work on being a family rather than working on becoming famous parents? Perhaps there is a reason Kate was unable to have children. Perhaps a higher power decided she was not parent material. Is it admirable to sell to your children's daily lives to the highest bidder?
Do we really care that Kate has a bikini bod?
Do we really care that Jon is now "on the prowl?"
We really should care that eight children are now caught up in a media circus that will certainly have a negative affect on their lives.
What is up with you folks who live your lives by watching others live theirs? Get a hobby! Volunteer at a homeless shelter! Volunteer at anything but get your own life!!!!!!!
When I was growing up there was a word for those who 'peered through windows to watch others' and it wasn't flattering. Pervert!!!!! comes to mind.
